Welcome to Motherhood Diaries

My name is Kayla, and I am a motherhood photographer and mom of 4 located on the beautiful island of O’ahu. I’ve been wanting a place on my website that feels a little less polished and a little more personal. Somewhere I can share more than just a few finished images from a session.

Photography has always been about more than the pretty pictures for me. I love the little things. The way a baby curls into their mom. The way kids reach for their parents without even thinking about it. The messy hair, the movement, the tiny expressions that probably wouldn’t mean much to anyone else but mean everything to the people in the photos.

Motherhood moves so fast, and I think that’s a huge part of why I’m drawn to documenting it.

The newborn stage ends. Their little hands get bigger. The toddler curls disappear. One day they stop asking to be picked up all the time, and somehow you don’t even realize when the last time was.

I don’t say that to make motherhood feel sad or heavy. I just think there is so much beauty in the ordinary parts of it, and I want to pay attention to those things while they’re here.

So that’s what I want this space to be.

A place for birth stories, maternity sessions, family sessions, little pieces of motherhood, and maybe even a few adventures and notes from my own family in between. I’ll share more of the stories behind the images here instead of only posting the highlights.

I’m sure this space will grow and change as I do, but for now, I’m just excited to have somewhere to put all of it.
